Customized Treatment Plans: The FNVR clinic offers personalized treatment plans, tailored to the specific needs and goals of each patient. This individualized approach ensures that therapy addresses the unique challenges faced by individuals, maximizing the potential for positive outcomes. We evaluate the brain’s function to identify and measure the severity of the injury. We then create personalized and targeted programs with progress tracking to enhance results and reduce recovery time.

What To Expect During The Concussion Screening

Our Concussion screening evaluates your brain’s processing and thinking (cognitive) function, balance, and reaction speed after a head injury. Most concussion symptoms are subjective. Our Concussion test provides objective measures in order to determine severity.

In order to assist with the recovery, we must first evaluate the patient and determine the best possible course of action.

1. Videonystagmography (VNG)

This is a computerized objective test to evaluate the vestibular system (balance portion of the inner ear). VNG testing can help to uncover the root cause of your vertigo, dizziness or balance issues (we don’t use non objective frenzel goggles)

2. Functional Brain Health Test

This test analyses, eye hand speed, neurovisual latency and accuracy, cognitive and sensory processing speed, Inhibition, working memory, comprehension etc.

3. Gait Analysis

We use an objective Computerized Balance testing and advanced computerized balance neurological rehabilitation. This is used to treat individuals with vestibular disorders, stroke, dizziness, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Cerebral Palsy and more.

4. Concussion Screening

Running tests that evaluate the brain function after an injury Typically this includes questions and checking for symptoms.

5. Computerized Balance Testing

This is a method to evaluate balance and posture stability under different conditions. The patient stands on a platform and is challenged with different visuals and tasks on the screen.

6. Cognitive Assessment

This will test for problems with your mental function, cognitive and processing speed, short and long term working memory, auditory and visual working memory.

Pre-Concussion and Post Screening

Our programs are tailored to each individual. We track progress and monitor results to ensure a positive outcome. Our team offers tailored programs to aid recovery. We also provide insight into the healing journey.

Our goal is clear: ensure positive concussion treatment for every patient. We want to give every patient hope for a successful recovery.

Pre-Concussion Screening

Pre-concession screening is available to those at risk. Children and teenagers are particularly at risk, especially those in contact sports.

This process typically includes an assessment for symptoms. Additionally, cognitive assessments are conducted using computerized testing. This gives us a better understanding of the your current state.

Our team will assess your prior history including any concussions or other medical conditions. We will then develop a recovery plan moving forward.

Concussion Screening

Concussion screening is a method of assessing the brain’s cognitive function, balance, and reaction speed after a head injury.

The evaluation is performed by our team to determine the extent of the injury and its impact on the brain. This helps create an effective treatment plan and assess the progress made to recover from a concussion.

As most concussion symptoms are subjective, this screening provides objective measures to determine the severity of the injury. We also offer pre-concussion screening for those at risk, particularly children who participate in contact sports.

What Is A Concussion?

A concussion is a head injury with no visible changes on imaging, whereas a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) there are observable changes on imaging.

A TBI based on new guidelines, can be listed as mild, medium or severe. These new guidelines are based on time of consciousness and signs and symptoms of the traumatic brain injury (TBI). A blow to the head or rapid movement that vigorously shakes the head and brain can result in concussion or a TBI.

This leads to changes in the metabolic and chemical brain cells. The brain is our body’s control center. Damage to the brain makes it harder for cells to function and communicate.

It is essential to be aware of the signs of a concussion. This is because a concussion cannot be detected with an X-ray, CT scan, or MRI. Doctors make a diagnosis based on an in-depth examination. This includes observing signs of a possible concussion and relying on the patient to report symptoms.

These symptoms may appear after an impact to the head or body. The brain exhibits signs and symptoms of concussion as an indication of an abnormal and dysfunctional state.

  • Experiencing an increase in sleep duration.
  • Experiencing a decrease in sleep duration.
  • Difficulty initiating sleep.

Advanced Concussion Treatment

Neuro Sensorimotor Integrator (NSI)
The NSI is an advanced neuro-visual therapy program designed to improve eye-hand coordination, visual reaction time, speed of recognition, and visual-vestibular integration. For individuals recovering from concussions, it supports the rehabilitation of oculomotor and neuro-cognitive skills, helping to restore balance, focus, and visual tracking abilities often impaired after head injuries.

Repetitive Peripheral Somatosensory Stimulation (RPSS)
RPSS targets the trigeminal nerve to reduce post-concussion symptoms such as headaches, brain fog, fatigue, and pain. By enhancing neural activation and sensory processing, RPSS aids in alleviating discomfort and improving cognitive clarity, supporting recovery from lingering concussion symptoms.

Active Release Therapy (ART) & SOT of Suboccipital Muscles
This manual therapy relieves tension in the suboccipital muscles, a common issue following concussions due to whiplash or postural strain. By reducing neck pain, headaches, and muscle tightness, ART promotes better neurological function and decreases the physical discomfort associated with post-concussion syndrome.

Visual Vestibular Exercises
These targeted exercises help restore balance, spatial awareness, and sensory integration by focusing on visual-vestibular coordination. For concussion patients, they address symptoms like dizziness, blurred vision, and difficulty focusing, aiding in the rehabilitation of vestibular and visual pathways critical to daily functioning.

Computerized Balance Targeting
Utilizing flat and foam platforms, this program enhances proprioceptive feedback and postural stability. Concussion patients benefit from improved balance and motor control, which are often compromised due to vestibular dysfunction or neural disorganization following a head injury.

Interactive Metronome (IM)
The IM program enhances processing speed, executive function, and working memory. These improvements are critical for individuals recovering from concussions, as they often experience delays in cognitive processing, poor impulse control, and challenges with attention. The IM program fosters better neural timing and cognitive efficiency.

Computerized Neuro-Visual Vestibular Program (RightEye)
RightEye provides an advanced system for addressing visual and vestibular deficits post-concussion. By targeting issues such as impaired tracking, gaze instability, and poor spatial awareness, it helps alleviate reading difficulties, focus challenges, and dizziness. The program delivers customized exercises to improve neuro-visual integration, facilitating a smoother and more effective recovery process.

What Are The Symptoms Of A Concussion?

It is essential to be aware of the signs and symptoms of a concussion. After a head injury, even one sign of a concussion should be reported to a health care professional.

This is because concussions cannot be detected on X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs. Some concussion symptoms are obvious however, some are harder to pinpoint.
